THE ORCHARD, PRESENTED IN ASSOCIATION WITH FIVE LEAVES BOOKSHOP

The Broadway Cinema Nottingham Wednesday 18 September at 5.45pm.

Dirs: Clive Myer & Lynda Myer-Bennett Country: UK Year: 2014 Duration: 104m

Starring: Lucy Black, Paul Currier, Dan Winter, Dorothea Myer-Bennett, Richard Neale, Daisy Douglas

Shot nonstop on location over one weekend, The Orchard is an improvised take on the most seen play in the world - Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard. Working with six actors from Shakespeare at The Tobacco Factory the film questions the role(s) and meaning of acting as it interpolates text and theatre into film. Underlying the Chekhov structure is Pirandello’s Six Characters in Search of an Author. The script was two pages long. Interestingly, the film won Best Screenplay at the Amsterdam Film Festival!

Next screening of Maurice El Medioni, in live concert with Eira/Snow:
Sunday 18th August 2019 at 1.15pm in The Cinedrome at The Green Man Festival, Crickhowell NP8 1LP

The Portrait is available to be screened in schools, colleges and interested institutions, as part of the History curriculum about WW2, Fascism in Europe and Holocaust studies.
